The SUPER STOCK LAWN MOWER RACING ASSOCIATION (SSLMRA) is a chapter of the AMERICAN RACING MOWER ASSOCIATION (ARMA) and does abide by ARMA's rules which can be found at www.golawnmowerracing.com.
The SSLMRA also races under additional classes of racing lawn mowers defined as Pacific Northwest Super Stock, Pro Super Stock, Mod-X, and Outlaw and thereby also abides by the following rules specified as:
"Super Stock Lawn Mower Racing Association Pacific Northwest Rules"
Racing Mower Basic Requirements
1. All mowers must be originally designed and sold commercially to mow lawns.
2. Original mower cutting deck must be removed. Fake decks are allowed.
3. Any body tin from any mower may be used; stock or stock-like rear fenders and running boards must be in place. NO FOOT PEGS allowed. Foot guards allowed on running boards. No sharp ends or corners.
4. Safety kill switch must be installed and fully functional. No homemade switches allowed.
5. Mowers with electric starters must have battery safely and securely mounted on mower.
6. Mowers must utilize a clutch, hand or foot operated. No centrifugal and/or torque converter clutches.
7. Brakes must be in good condition. Brakes may be improved in any way from original factory design.
8. Front axle may be pinned, bolted or welded but must be secured. No suspension allowed.
9. Fuel tank must be safely and securely mounted under the hood or body tin. Engine mounted stock tanks allowed.
10. Front and rear bumpers are optional and allowed. Front bumpers may not extend beyond the front of the front tires. Rear bumpers may not extend more than from the center of tire to tire and no more than 3 inches behind rear tires. No sharp ends.
11. Numbers must be on side of mower and on hood, at minimum and clearly seen by officiating crew. Mower class must also be obviously displayed. Minimum of 6 inch tall numbers on the hood and 3 inch tall numbers on sides/front and a minimum of 2 inch tall letters.
12. Fuel to be pump gas only. Fuel may be tested at any time.
13. All racing mowers and drivers safety equipment (INCLUDING BRAKES AND KILL SWITCH) must pass a tech inspection before hot laps begin.
14. Steering wheels only and must be centered between frame rails.
15. Seats. Any style, but must be bolted and centered between frame rails.
16. Drivers must have a full 10BC - rated fire extinguisher in his/her equipment in their pits.
Racing Mower Class **Stock** - Per ARMA rules.
1. Any stock engine that came on a riding lawn mower. No H.P Limit.
2. No internal engine modifications allowed. Stock only.
3. Carburetors to remain stock as from manufacturer, any brand or style.
4. No porting or polishing allowed. Block and cylinder head to remain stock. Flywheel, stock only.
5. Air filter may be changed to any style, K&N, etc.
6. Exhaust must exit in a rearward and downward direction away from driver and other competitors, a minimum of 2 feet long, from cylinder head pipe flange to end of pipe outlet. No sharp ends.
7. Exhaust may be changed to a header, and tail pipe is optional (2 feet minimum from cylinder head).
8. Mower with electric starter must have battery mounted on mower unless engine is pull start, both are allowed.
9. Lowering and ride height is optional, no lower than 4 inches from frame to ground, front to rear.
10. Front axle may be changed or altered. Must be one piece beam (steel) only.
11. Original mower L or J spindles may be replaced with Kart Type Spindles.
12. Wheel bases may be changed a maximum of 42 inches outside edge of tire to outside edge of tire.
13. Axles may be repositioned to a minimum of 42 inches center to center to a maximum of 54 inches center to center (center of front axle to center of rear axle.
14. Engine, jack shaft and transmission pulleys may be changed to any size. Jackshaft assemblies allowed.
15. Hand or foot throttle optional.
16. Fuel tank must be mounted under hood or body tin and safely/securely mounted.
17. Tires size is optional. Maximum tire diameter of 20". Rims no larger than 8" diameter. Rims must be steel. They may be reinforced on inside (back) only. Certain tracks may ban certain treads that are destructive to the track surface. Check with race officials before a race.
18. Safety kill switch must be installed and must pass tech inspection.
19. Rear axle may use open differential that are locked, "live", solid or welded.
20. No single wheel drive and must have shaft locks on ends of axles. Bolted or

Outlaw Class Definitions:
Outlaw C - Single Cylinders 12.5 HP and under
Outlaw B - Single Cylinders 13 HP and over
Outlaw A - Twin Cylinders
1. All machines built to ARMA Pro-X Specifications with the following changes:
a. Home built frames are allowed if made of steel, are dimensionally the same as a stock frame and they are the same weight or heavier than an original frame.
b. Facsimile Mower decks and/or Nerf type bars are allowed.
c. Handlebars are allowed with bar ends covered or welded shut.
d. Must have shiftable lawn mower transmission or transaxle (forward, neutral with reverse optional).
e. Vari-Drives are allowed.
f. Lawn Mower Style hood and fenders.
g. Front Bumpers are allowed.
h. Motorcycle/Quad style seats are allowed.
i. Minimum ground clearance from frame or Nerf bars is 3.5 inches.
Racing Mower Class ** Outlaw 8**
Sames rules as Outlaw but having 8 H.P. engines.
